This is one of the few long-exposure shots that I am doing my critique. Since I usually find certain features in a long-exposure shot to be a bit distracting, I am not always for long exposures. However! This one has already captured my attention. And I cannot help but gaze at the tranquility of the evening scene. There is definitely a cool, spring feeling to it. Very typical of the Midwest.

The surface of the lake is so glassy that one could mistake it for a matted surface. The reflections from the lake, as well as from the docks, show the soft, blended colors of the clouds and the remaining light from the sunset. The quiet scene appears quite well-balanced with the remaining brightness (from the sunset) on the left and the docks stretching all the way to the right. Even though the clouds, especially the ones close to the top of the photo, appear slightly blurred, the entire cloudscape is just perfect because of the soft pink rays that stretch outward from the sunset. And the general direction that the clouds are spreading out corresponds with that of the rays.

Everything seems to come to a standstill for the photo shoot as if time had stopped and all nature-related activities had ceased. But, hey, I really love when the scene is so peaceful and quiet! I would rather be there when nothing is happening at the docks or on the lake, as I would really relish its serenity! I could dive into the water, swim across to the docks, and enjoy the tranquility of the sunset while standing on the wooden platform! This is definitely a perfect time for a photo shoot before all hell breaks loose at the lake during the start of the summer season! <img src="e.deviantart.com/emoticons/w/w…" width="15" height="15" alt=";)" title=";) (Wink)" />
