Description
The Romalea guttata, often referred to as the giant everglades grasshopper is the Eastern Lubber grasshopper. It is about 3 inches long, not very skittish and spectacularly colored... probably nasty to the taste. The first one I saw at the water's edge looked to me like a fishing lure.
