Winter Intensity by papatheo Winter Intensity by papatheo
This shot is from last winter at Peninsula State Park in Door County, Wisconsin. We went up there a few times this year but nothing much was happening: there were some small ice formations but nothing like the larger than life icy vistas of last winter. Many of these ice shards are much taller than myself... needless to say we continued shooting until our hands and feet lost all feeling... then we'd warm up and go back out.
The upper right corner gives an idea of the size of this "ice shove" along the shore of Lake Michigan a half an hour or so north of Green Bay.

The Ice shoves by Door Bluff(Camp Zion to be specific) are quite nice(check out my recent shots) some are 20' tall! This is nice by the way :)

 Awesome... we looked at squeezing in a trip up there today but its not working. Is there access to the shoreline around Door Bluff without climbing down from the top? Maybe I'm thinking of Ellison Bluff Park... but our last time in the area we couldn't access anything near the water!!!

Great shot!
I was up there 2 weekends ago hoping to see something similar, but as you said, there was nothing dramatic.

I checked out those pictures, they were pretty nice, the way the sun plays on the ice really makes the photos.

 We were up there that Monday night... drove right to PSP... got out of the car... took a look... then spent the night and the next day on the other side of the peninsula.
