Night Glow

Description

We drove an hour plus to a hot air balloon rally at Wisconsin Rapids and arrived at the onset of a storm. It cleared about an hour or so later but there were only three balloons after the storm [only one actually flew and a sudden gust of wind almost put him into the trees in the background. After it landed it was brought over with the other two for a "night glow".

Ah, hot air balloons against the darkening sky! This totally reminds me of the annual Hot Air Balloon Festival in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The hot balloons would start launching early in the morning while the sky is completely dark, and more would launch during the rest of the morning. What a beautiful sight! And what great memories for me, too! Will definitely head back there again in the future!

Back to this shot. The glow of the balloons against the night sky makes for an intense sight and brings out the colorfulness of the balloons. Due to the brightness of the scene, interesting patterns, logos, and lettering on the surface of the balloons come to life! Each balloon can be distinguished from the other.

I would try the shot in different angles so that the balloons can appear together (to make for an unique shot) or quite converging (so that the front one would be much 'larger' than the last one). Because the sides of the first and third balloons (from left to right) are almost cut off, the balloons somehow get 'crowded up' in the shot. I would allow some space between the sides of these two balloons and the vertical edges of the photo.

If I should maintain the same angle (without changing the angle of the shot), I would just move away a little bit so that I can get more of the third balloon instead of having it blocked by the second one.

The warm colors of the balloons, as well as the night glow, definitely make for a real nostalgic sight! <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" title=":) (Smile)" />
