After sliding around out on the wet ice taking sunrise shots, I made it back to the shoreline and found leaves that had blown onto the ice and had literally "melted in".
Photo taken at Castle Rock County Park, near Mauston, Wisconsin.
The composition of this piece is amazing. The focus is crystal clear, which really brings out the shot. The gentle indent in the snow where the leaf is enhances the lighting and provides a great focal point for the leaf.
Such a simple piece, but though the three elements shown in this shot you were able to capture the elements of three different seasons. The leaf of course symbolizes autumn, the snow, winter, and the gentle sunlight, spring.
The sunlight is so gentle it really captures the feeling that spring isn't here yet, but it's just starting to begin. That fact is shown again by the few small water droplets on the leaf.
