Another view of the "travertine" ridged pools at sunset. Travertine is a type of limestone found at many springs of hot water. The whole place smelled like hard boiled eggs and made me hungry for supper.

That is absolutely a stunning photo. I am up at Mammoth all the time and have never thought of getting a photo like that. Very impressive! I did get one last Thanksgiving that I think I will post. The snow was 6 feet deep, and the trip out there was a nightmare. Passed a lot of cars in the ditch. I didn't want to fix a big dinner for just me and my 13 year old daughter, so we loaded up some field painting supplies and went off to the park. hahaha
