I had never seen anything like this place... steaming water in pools edged with travertine [a type of limestone] and dead trees... it was like we had been transported to another planet.

Love this part of Yellowstone! I got to stay at the Mammoth Hot Springs lodge one winter, but you can't see the strange beauty of the place when it's covered in ice. The warmer seasons are better. Anyway, nice shot of the formations you've got here.
