Lions in Winter by papatheo Lions in Winter by papatheo
Ma and pa African lion lounging outside on a rock at about 10 degrees F. We came back for more photos about half an hour later but found that our models had retired for the day.

It was taken at the Henry Villas Zoo in Madison Wisconsin. You are right it is a pity about the fence for them [and the photograph]!

Lovely shot here, I especially like how you have emphasised the focus on those two and not the background. Less to focus on :)

Once again well done :highfive:

 Thank you!!! Actually you are not far from the truth... HDRs can greatly enhance the fur of animals as can "tone imaging" which is the second part of the HDR process. Instead of shooting three separate images of a screen you just shoot one... then copy it as it is [1], overexposed a little[2] and underexposed a little[3]... then put these into the Photomatrix pro "tone imaging" program.
On this photo what I did was desaturated the background so that it wouldn't distract so much from the lions... and at the end I put the photo through Lucis art, first "exposure" setting. This is what really makes the cat's fur stand out... it almost separates the hairs and gives each one emphasis!!!

I love the colors, the snow in the background and the lions of course. They are so beautiful and majestic.
