After dropping into a blast furnace [Death Valley] that severely tries your brake system you ascend to a much cooler place if your transmission holds up [postings along the highway suggest turning off your AC].

:) So am I... we made it back as far as Golden Co. where we had some work done on the brakes but driving with the AC off [it wasn't so bad since it was already after nightfall and the heat had dropped considerably] probably saved our transmission!!! :nod:

I understand. I took a straight shift through there years ago. I ran the air, but what I was worried about was the re-capped tires. They didn't fall apart. :laughing: Kind of lets you know how long ago that was. :rofl:
