Huge broken ice blocks along the shoreline of Peninsula State Park in Door County... about 90 miles north of Green Bay, Wisconsin.
I'm amazed that so few people are around at this time of year to experience the overwhelming magnitude and beauty of this amazing winter event.

Overall Vision
Originality Technique ImpactThis is a wonderful photo inspiring my first ever critique. I love the pastel colors. The light is exquisite. The translucent ice blocks in the background contrast nicely with the shadows. The depth of field is excellent. I love the abstract quality of this scene, the lack of a point of reference, the icy disorientation. It also does a commendable job documenting this powerful natural phenomenon of wind driven ice being piled near shore.
When I was growing up we lived in Madison, Wisconsin for a couple of years and I remember my father skating to the University in winter. I also remember seeing the turtles hibernating beneath the ice. What a great place to experience winter and to record it in all it's glory as you have done here.
