Interesting features can be discovered when looking at leaves from behind. Proper lighting from the background would make all the difference to the details being seen. This photo is a perfect example of what we'd see from the backs of the leaves.
The reddish outline on each leaf is quite detailed, and the fuzzy edge accompanies the outline. Both the outline and the edge give each leave the uneven look. The branches can be seen spreading out throughout the leaves from their stems. Some tiny veins in the leaves are shown in detail.
Even though most of the leaves have already turned green, there are some that still have quite bit of red in them. These leaves will eventually turn green. Like the maple leaves as shown in this photo [link] these oak leaves go through changes after they start growing.
The background for this shot is excellent in terms of colors and contrast. The background allows the leaves to stand out. Just like that in the other photo as shown in the link.
Even though there are some differences between the oak and maple leaves in terms of their physical looks, as well as their colors, shapes, and details, they truly stand out in these two photos. The process that the leaves are going through right now is only the beginning; come summer and fall, these leaves will experience further changes in size, colors, shapes, and textures.
Unlike flowers, leaves are definitely interesting photo objects for the spring, summer, and fall seasons!
